Nippon Daishowa Paperboard Co., Ltd. conducted an in-house survey on the recycled fiber content ratio in its products and admitted that certain products failed to meet the criteria, as shown in the attached sheet.
We express our sincere apologies for betraying the trust of our customers and the public in general who have supported recycled products as well as recycling activities. Our technological capabilities were not sufficient to maintain the required level of product quality while raising the content of recycled pulp as inferior material. Giving priority to the required product quality, we reduced the content in our products and continued to sell them.
| We will suspend the production of recycled paper products whose recycled fiber content is below the posted specification and will decide on additional measures in consultation with our customers. We also will take the following actions to prevent a recurrence of similar deed: |

To establish Investigation Committee to clarify the causes of the mixing ratio shortage. |
| 2. |
To develop and execute counter measures based on the investigation results, emphasizing compliance in every operation.The causes and measures to be reported on our website and elsewhere. |

To augment our focus on technological development, aiming to maximize wastepaper utilization and to raise recycled pulp content in our products. |
With these initiatives, the Company will strive to regain the trust of its stakeholders.
