Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (President: Masatomo Nakamura) is pleased to announce the release of OPER Premier, a new brand of OPER®, synthetic paper.

It was a great challenge to improve the traditional synthetic paper, which had inferior ink-drying performance in comparison with general coated paper and allowed the use of only limited types of ink. The new OPER Premier is mainly characterized by a dramatically improved ink-drying performance, enabling printing characteristics on a par with those of general coated paper.

Paper thickness: 80 µm, 110 µm

Surface texture: Matt, fine*

*Fine: Intermediate between matt (less shiny face) and gloss (shiny face). The appropriate degree of gloss makes it easy to read printed text and beautifully conveys images.

 

OPER Premier has a coating on top of the resin layer that exhibits water resistance. This slashes ink drying time, facilitating printing on both sides. In addition, the paper is compatible with SOY ink as well as ordinary ink.

 

Resin laminated, the OPER®, series including OPER Premier repels water from obverse and reverse sides almost completely and boasts a water resistance equivalent to synthetic made of resin only. This gives the paper broad applications, such as wrapping for cold insulation, use for products such as food, application for packaged items, use for foldout maps and flyers used outdoor.

 

The laminated layer (resin layer) of the OPER®, series is made from petroleum oil. The layer thickness is only that necessary to provide water resistance, minimizing the use of fossil fuels. The OPER®, series may be disposed as burnable waste since 55% or more of it is made of paper. The basing paper includes environmentally friendly de-inked pulp and ECF pulp. Because of the high paper ratio, OPER Premier features a soft touch, and what's more, it is easy to fold after printing and excels in processing.
