Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (President: Masatomo Nakamura) is pleased
to announce the release of Pleiateres, the new woodfree
gloss coated paper. Pleiateres is an innovative new
product that achieves higher brightness at 93% than any other gloss coated
paper, and also ensures the best ever reproducibility in printing.
[Product Characteristics]
The company's proprietary technologies characterize new product Pleiateres,
as follows:
(1) High brightness
Pleiateres boasts higher brightness at 93% than any other gloss
coated paper.
(2) High reproducibility in printing
The greatest brightness ever achieved in gloss coated paper improves reproducibility
in printing, enabling the clear expression of many different images as desired.
(3) Excellent character legibility
This new product clearly shows the outlines of characters. This allows fine characters
to be easy to read even on a gloss surface, ensuring high legibility.
The raw material of the new product mostly contains chips from afforested
trees. In addition, calcium carbonate contained in the paper is internally
manufactured at the mill using carbon dioxide discharged from the mill. This
helps reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas.
Nippon Paper Industries will continue to develop and distribute new and environmentally
friendly products.
The new product is produced at the Ishinomaki Mill with target sales of 1000
tons/month.
Pleiateres, the name of the product, has been coined
to have the meaning of Pleiades, or a cluster of bright stars. The product
is named after Pleiades to reflect its excellent characteristics, such as high
brightness and high reproducibility in the printing of images and characters,
based on the hope that it will itself become akin to a cluster of bright stars
in its aggregation of benefits for users.
