March 7, 2006 saw the holding of BORAMADO, a program that introduces volunteers.
The Social Contribution Subcommittee planned and operated this program in cooperation
with the Japan Philanthropic Association.
The Second BORAMADO was had at the conference room of the headquarters of Nippon
Daishowa Paperboard Co., Ltd. It was more successful than last year's event,
attracting more than ninety people including general participants and planning/organizing
staff members.
Part 1 began with an elaborate seven-minute presentation on the activities of
each of five volunteer groups.
This was followed by presentations by Mr. Kentaro Morita (NP Trading Co., Ltd.)
and Mr. Kiichi Sakai (CRECIA Corporation). Mr. Morita participated in the special
art appreciation meeting for the disabled at the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts
exhibition as a volunteer last November. Mr. Sakai is involved in community activities
while developing his hobby of astronomy. They enjoyed a frank and lively discussion
about how they started their activities and what they thought about them now.
The participants offered feedback, noting that the presentations were easy to
understand and that they could do something as volunteers because people around
them were taking part in the volunteer activities.

In the experience and demonstration in Part 2, a hearing assist dog gave a
demonstration. This was a very rare opportunity as there are only eleven hearing
assist dogs in Japan. The participants greatly enjoyed the demonstration.
The participants also experienced an easy sign language lesson and a simulation
as elderly people by wearing special tools. They also affixed stickers bearing
translations to picture books to send to children living in other countries in
Asia. They enjoyed mixing with members of different groups and the enjoyable
time quickly passed.
The charity secondhand book fair was had at the same time, collecting about
15,000 yen. The money was donated to support educational activities for Asian
children conducted by the Shanti Volunteer Association.
