On August 28, 2006, a special art appreciation
gathering inviting physically challenged persons for the Glory of Persia exhibition
was held at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. The appreciation attracts about 570
visitors, including physically disabled people and attendants in good weather.
Nippon Paper Group has been involved in the special art appreciation gathering
for physically challenged persons, organized by Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
Volunteers from Nippon Paper Group companies have been involved since the previous
year's exhibition on Works from the Pushkin Museum of Art. Among the eighteen
volunteers for this year's exhibition, many were taking part for the first time.
They worked hard at reception and near the elevators, while looking after the
disabled visitors.
One of the employees who took part as a volunteer commented,
"It has been always a pleasure to see everybody enjoying themselves in a
relaxed manner. I am happy to receive the thanks of the visitors with a smile,
even if I felt a bit tired from doing something I was not used to."
Another employee said,"Each
of us worked based on our own ideas. It was an impressive volunteer activity.
The venue was crowded. We had to take care of physically challenged people. We
were often required to act on a case-by-case basis. However, the volunteers did
their jobs efficiently. I realized that the participants from our group had a
strong awareness"
After the appreciation gathering, the staff of Tokyo Metropolitan
Art Museum and volunteers from Able Art Japan, who served as guides for exhibits,
expressed their gratitude. They said that the support at the reception and securing
of traffic lines facilitated the operation of the gathering.
