On July 10, the Shiraoi Paper Festival 2005 was held at the Shiraoi-cho Municipal Gymnasium. At the venue there were displays of paper arts and booths operated by 23 institutional participants, including local elementary and junior high schools as well as cultural societies. As in past years, Shiraoi Mill of Nippon Paper Industries operated a booth for paper-manufacturing experience and samples of the WAVYWAVY. The paper-manufacturing experience booth proves popular every year. Excited children enjoyed the experience, saying it was fun to see how paper was made.
