On February 14, the staff of Yufutsu Mill of Nippon Paper
Industries Co., Ltd. gave lessons on paper manufacture at Yufutsu Elementary
School. Employees of the Technical Service and Environment Control Department
and the General Affairs Section gave a demonstration and taught paper making
techniques to thirty-four students in the third grade. This is an initiative
by the Mill to make paper, something that is used every day, more familiar, as
part of its community contribution.
First, the general paper manufacturing procedure was explained. Next, the students
made postcards using Japanese paper and colored paper, to their own design. The
students seemed extremely happy to see the results of their efforts.
The mill donated twenty sets of commercially-available paper making kits for
use by the elementary school in classes.
