At Eco-Products 2005 (Tokyo Big Sight, from December 15 to 17, 2005), Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. offered environmental tutorials to pupils in the forth grade of Nakano Ward Mukoudai Elementary School and pupils in the fifth and sixth grades of Shinjuku Ward Okubo Elementary School. The topic of the tutorials was paper recycling.
Since its inception in 1999, Eco-Products Exhibition has been actively promoting visits to the exhibition and made an effort to educate elementary, middle and high school students about the environment as part of their general education.
Nippon Paper Group has been an exhibitor at the exhibition every year. This year the group offered tutorials about the environment in addition to exhibiting at the booth, helping to make children more aware of the environment.
Tutorials were given in the morning and afternoon on the first day of the exhibition, December 15. The tutors were Mr. Otaki, a technical manager from the Environmental Department, and Ms. Ogo from the Kyushu Branch. Children were provided with printed materials illustrating paper recycling. The tutors posed questions while explaining the current status of recovered paper recycling.
The tutorials may have been a little too difficult for elementary school pupils. However, we hope they fared well and enjoyed learning during the forty-minute sessions.
