In October 2003, Nippon Paper Group established
an organization to promote CSR, to fulfill comprehensive social responsibilities
that encompass ethics, fairness, transparency and risk management capabilities,
in addition to its economic and environmental measures. Under the new organization,
Nippon Paper Group intends to contribute actively toward social development as
a corporate citizen. In March 2004, the Group set out a philosophy and established
principles for its community activities, and we plan to take the following initiatives.
