The Intellectual Property Department acquires and maintains intellectual property rights on the new technologies and products that emerge from the Company's R&D activities. Patents and other intellectual property rights serve to raise the value of business resources and the application of these rights is a strong point of emphasis for Nippon Paper Industries. Response to and resolution of infringement litigation and disputes and negotiations and signing of licensing and other technological contracts are also important functions of the department.
