Measurement of Wet Strength for Low Sizing Paper

Abstract:

In recent years, offset multi-color printing is increasing. Web breaks on the press caused by excess dampening water occasionally take place. However, dependable methods to simulate the web break have not existed. A novel instrument and method to simulate the condition of web offset printing was developed. Data showed that the method is useful to predict web breaks when sizing degree of paper is relatively low.
