Situated within abundant natural resources and
wilderness near the Yufutsu Plain, the Yufutsu Mill was founded in 1943. With
the opening in the last few decades of the New Chitose Airport and the modernized
Tomakomai Harbor facilities, the Yufutsu Mill has expanded its operations and
is now an important part of the Tomakomai Industrial Belt.The Yufutsu Mill produces
woodfree paper, coated paper, specialty paper, communication paper, and, in 1990,
with newly engineered machinery, added the manufacture of newsprint to its range
of products. In addition to its cutting-edge technology and dependable output
of high quality paper, the Mill became the first in Japan to introducein
2001an ozone bleaching facility, one of the largest operations in the world,
and has spearheaded the development of environmentally friendly paper mill operations
in Japan. The Mill also produces chemical products from pulp.
