Nippon Daishowa Paperboard Tohoku was established in 1970 as a business with close ties to Akita Prefecture. It began as a specialist manufacturer of linerboard and corrugating medium. In 1989, it affiliated with the former Jujo Paper Co., Ltd. (now Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd.), and started its paper business after completing the installation of paper-manufacturing machinery in 1990. Facing Akita port, located at the mouth of the Omono River, a major river with abundant water, the facility takes full advantage of its prime location as a convenient costal industrial mill, and rapidly responds to customer needs by ensuring the stable procurement of raw materials. In addition, the installation of a paper sludge incinerator power generation system in 2003 helped to reduce energy costs and decrease industrial waste. Nippon Daishowa Paperboard Tohoku therefore became a competitive recycling mill that utilizes wastepaper and chips from thinned wood and dismantled lumber. We continue to build our reputation in diverse fields, including environmental activities, and enhance our levels of quality and productivity.
