Ashikaga Mill is located in the city of Ashikaga, the northern area of the Kanto Plain. The Watarase River flows into Ashikaga, which is surrounded by mountains. Mt. Akagi and Nantai-san can be seen in the background. There are numerous historical landmarks in the city. Among them are Ashikaga School, believed to be the oldest school in Japan, and Bannaji Temple, which was built around the time the Heian Era ended and the Kamakura Era began (1180s or 1190s) by Yoshikane Ashikaga, the second lord of the Ashikaga clan. In this beautiful city with its historic landmarks and abundant nature, the Mill was established in 1959 as Ashikaga Paper Industry Co., Ltd. At present, the Mill operates near the Tokyo metropolitan area - a prime location that benefits its operations.
