Facing the Tokushima Komatsushima Port (Akashi area), an important port, Komatsushima Mill is directly linked to the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe area via the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge. In addition, a public dock has recently been built at the neighboring Tokushima Tokushima Komatsujima Port, radically improving geographical conditions.
This mill commenced operation in 1968. It has become a mill that has more unique features than other mills at Nippon Paper Industries. As a leading business communication paper production mill, Komatsushima Mill currently produces PPC paper, production of which accounts for about 70% of total output, and OPER®, synthesized paper with superior water resistance, using a machine and two laminator processing machines.
Komatsushima Mill has adopted a number of innovative environmental measures, including the manufacture of carbonized products using waste from old paper pulp production and earthworm farming.
