| Transformation Process
When transformed by the ipt type MAT Vector®
System, transgenic plants (e.g., tobacco and hybrid aspen) auto-regenerate on
a hormone-free medium, develop several shoots and lose apical dominance. Therefore,
we can visually identify transgenic plants as an extreme shooty phenotype (ESP).
When subsequent excisions of “hit & run cassette“ occurs, normal shoots extend
from ESPs. Therefore, marker free transgenic plants are obtained as normal plants
without sexual crosses or seed productions.
